Boat - SolidWorks - Iso-metric view

A boat created with SolidWorks by Nelson Brazeau - I work for a Medical company and in my spare time if I have any I have been designing a 16 ft run about boat. I have included my almost finished design. All which have been done in solidworks using surfaces. I thought it would be nice to post the picture to show what other people are doing. I plans to create details plans and sell them on the net when I am done of course I need to build the thing first to make sure the plans are accurately correct.

SolidWorks Teaching Project

Richard Williams sends in these images of a Solar Heated Duplex Birdhouse and a backhoe. The birdhouse will be used to teach students about thermodynamics and the backhoe will be used to teach hydraulics.

Chris Lanahan

Chris Lanahan of the Fabricate to Order Department at TOLCO, a pipe support and hanger manufacturer and division of NIBCO, submitted these renderings done in SolidWorks. Chris says the renderings drawings are really helpful to customers and the master assembly illustration was something he cooked up for kicks.

Retiree Richard Williams, author and volunteer teacher these days, submitted this design of a Russell solar oven done by himself and one of the kids he mentors.

"We are building this now at his school in the parking lot," said Richard. "He is eleven years old and is great with tools. I'm also working with him to pick up his grades."

Projetos Mecanicos

I'm from Brasil. I have 30 years old. I work for my own company, RR Mechanical Projects. I make projects of machines in general for sawmills. This bracket is a piece for arch wire. I modeled all the pieces of the arch wire. They are measured in a profile projector and later modeled with SolidWorks. This is a work developed with a dentist's partnership. He will use the 3D bracket to teach in the university. The brackets are show big screen with e-drawings. Now I am programming with VBA for SolidWorks. Domestic Pool Test Mete

This is a Domestic Pool Test Meter Project recently completed by CI3 for a client who produces industrial water test equipment but wants to break into the domestic market. The product is aimed at people who have domestic swimming pools and spas and is used to accurately monitor the chemical levels to ensure the correct balance is maintained. The product was designed and modeled in SolidWorks by Chris Smith of CI3 and rendered in PhotoWorks by Mark Hemingway of CI3.

Oral-B Crossaction Vitalizer toothbrush

This is a CAD model of the Oral-B Crossaction Vitalizer toothbrush I did for a tooling and molding client. The model was created in SolidWorks and rendered in SolidWorks (PhotoWorks 2). The image is a screengrab of the PhotoWorks rendering with all the surrounding toolbars that users are familiar with (to show that you can achieve compelling images without third-party software). There were no "tricks or workarounds" in producing the model, just intelligent use of the software that comes with experience. --Mark Hemingway

Niland Company, El Paso, TX

My name is Bruce Buck and I've been working with SolidWorks since version 2001. I'm currently working as a Design/Sales Engineer for Niland Company in El Paso, TX. We design and manufacture outdoor architectural lighting products. One of my first projects included a new luminaire design. As you can see below, the designs are much more ornate and intricate than the more simple, mechanical design that I've done at other jobs. They were all done in SolidWorks 2005, using the PhotoWorks plugin. It's been a great challenge working with these types of consumer products, but it's loads of fun. The best part is seeing your work turn into production parts! If any of you are experts in surfacing and complex texturing in SolidWorks, I'd LOVE to speak to you and learn some new tricks.

Eaton Fluid Power

This project was for a powerunit to suit an Aluminum plant in New South Wales, Australia. I work for Eaton Fluid Power in Australia in the Powerunit Systems group. I work within a team of 5 Engineers and Designers. We have 2 seats of Solidworks 2005 and have been using it for 3 years now. I do the majority of all 3D design work. I have been involved in Hydraulic System Design for the past 5 years. I have been using CAD for the past 10 years. I have an Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology. My hobbies are Motorbikes: I have 4; 2 are operational and 2 are in pieces. I am also an accomplished Painter and I have sold some pieces. Generation 2 Worldwide,

I work for a baby furniture manufacturer, Generation 2 Worldwide, so I thought a furniture item might be interesting, since the majority of SolidWorks users work with more mechanical items. Image 1 is a design for a baby crib, which was one of the first I did right after purchasing SolidWorks in 1998. Image 2 is a detail shot of the rope carving in the top end rail. The rope carving was an interesting challenge. The design was a collaborative effort between our Marketing Director, Dave Hansen, and myself. It was designed to have the rope carving done by hand carvers in Indonesia, where many of our cribs are made.

Crib

We did do one production run, and the rope carving was indeed done by hand, but it was too high-priced for our market niche then. I've worked here for 25 years, except for 4¼ years during one ownership change; and have been working and playing with wood, metal, plastic, and tools since I was a kid.
